Special Feature :

The test weld will be supported on Cylindrical or Semi-cylindrical supports having a distance up to 1.5 meter between them from centre to centre. The Thermit weld will be at the centre of span and loaded in such a manner that the foot of the rail is in tension. The diameter of mandrel and the supports shall be between 30 to 50 mm. The load shall be gradually increased at the rate of 2.5 t/sec till rupture occurs.

Technical Specifications :

The machine is designed for operation electrically. Manual operation also has been provided for use as and when required. This Test Frame of the machine is 4 column type fabricated of sturdy M.S. Bars. This is used for Transverse Breaking load and deflection measurement on up to 1.5 meter rail including Thermit and Flash Butt Joints. To see the load bearing capacity and ductility of the welds.
